Drones
The Northern Lighthouse Board which is responsible for the operation of the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse – and indeed all lighthouses in Scotland and the Isle of Man – has advised that they do not wish drones within a 50 metre area of any of their lighthouses.
The Mull of Galloway Trust and RSPB are also placing a ban on drones flying over the Reserve at the Mull of Galloway to protect the privacy of guests in the holiday cottages and to protect the many birds and animals which call the Mull of Galloway their home.
Nature reserves and protected sites such as the Mull which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) are not appropriate places for drone use. Please also be aware that it is against the law to disturb certain birds, such as peregrines, which occur at the Mull of Galloway.
If anyone has a specific reason to fly a drone over the Reserve and wishes to seek permission then they are requested to contact the Mull of Galloway Trust at info@mull-of-galloway.co.uk or the RSPB at crystal.maw@rspb.org.uk.
