From Saturday the 24th of February until Saturday 17th August, the Scottish Maritime Museum in Dumbarton will be hosting an exhibition titled “Following the Lights”.

Drawing from the collection of lighthouse enthusiast and photographer Peter Gellatly, this touring exhibition includes letters, photographs and other memorabilia that details the history and development of the UK’s lighthouses, their keepers and the engineers who built them. For anyone with even a passing interest in lighthouses, this is sure to offer a fascinating insight into the history and operation of these vitally important aids to navigation.

The Scottish Maritime Museum has two sites, one at The Linthouse in Irvine and the other in Dumbarton, located on the site of the former William Denny shipyard in the Denny Ship Model Experiment Tank where “Following the Lights” will be on display.

Further details about the museum can be found here while information about Peter and the Following the Lights project is here.
